Living Through You
03:40
|
|||
I tried to find my own perspective but I couldn’t see
When your life became the one I projected, I thought you were me
Little lies teach us how to pretend
Then devour us before the end
Every moment adding all up to one
I know you saw it coming but you can’t just up and run
When you’re fading, the memory splits in two
One of them was mine, the other one was living through you
I wasn’t sure there was a problem but I thought I knew
When you found the answer I always wanted, I thought I was you
Simple truths give our minds a chance to rest
Then deceive us with a second guess
Every moment adding all up to one
I know you saw it coming but you can’t just up and run
When you’re fading, the memory splits in two
One of them was blind, the other one was your point of view
Don’t you understand nothing went to plan
You were never meant to break
All your little lies, all your wasted time
Trying to make the right mistake all your life
Every moment adding all up to one
I know you saw it coming but you can’t just up and run
When you’re fading, the memory splits in two
One of them wants only to pretend and one is living through you

Caving In
03:27
|
|||
Your whole life you were stoic and stable, saving up for the rainiest day
You told us all your facts and your fables before they slipped away
I see you in a chemical daydream, memory overfilled and confused
I want you to tell me nothing comes easy just like you used to do
Day and night, fortune or strife, you sheltered the flames in the wind
It’s hard to hear you say you’re alright with all the strength you hold inside
Caving in
You sat there at the head of the table where long ago you were never alone
You held on until the world was unstable and then you let it go
I see you in a chemical daydream, memories fading into the air
I still smile when you say that you know me but you’re not really there
Day and night, fortune or strife, you sheltered the flames in the wind
It’s hard to hear you say you’re alright with all the truth you wore so thin
Whether it’s wrong or right, darkness or light, nothing outlasts everything
It’s sad to see you waving goodbye with all the love you hold inside
Caving in

Loose Ends
03:29
|
|||
Tying up the loose ends like so many times before
Once you think you’ve tied them all, you’ve loosened up ten more
Something plain and simple, like trying to make amends
Never seems to turn out right, tying up loose ends
Sifting through your own thoughts, leaving nothing incomplete
Soon enough you realize that’s not an easy feat
What was once a ribbon is now some tangled knots
You can’t always sort them out, sifting through your thoughts
Things will only come together when you turn away
No matter the time or the place, some truths are here to stay
You could be somebody real, not someone who pretends
If only you’d live your life and stop spending all your time
Tying up loose ends in your mind
I appreciate your concern but I think I’m doing fine
When they ask I’ll tell them that we were just good friends
I may not have a gift for telling lies, no skill at making amends
I may not have a gift for telling lies, but I can tie loose ends
